About Yellow Leaf
I’m Cathy Blachowski, the founder of Yellow Leaf Candle Company. I started the business in 2023 after dealing with my own health struggles. For years, chronic migraines, allergies, and asthma made it difficult to enjoy store-bought candles. Frustrated by the limited options, I started making my own candles in 2016, with the goal of creating cleaner, sensitivity-friendly, eco-friendly alternatives that people like me could actually enjoy.
After a significant amount of research into soy waxes, self-trimming cotton wicks, and high-quality essential oils and fragrances, I developed a line of candles that are free from dyes and carcinogens. Along the way, some unexpected favorites came to life, including Bourbon Vanilla, which started as a happy accident during testing. I’m always open to suggestions and love experimenting with new scent combinations, from classic Lavender and Eucalyptus Spearmint to something a little different like Apricot Chamomile.
As Yellow Leaf has grown, so has my product line. What started with candles has expanded into diffusers, wax melts, and ceramic warmers to custom pours and gift baskets for special occasions. We also partner with other businesses to create scents and packaging that feel like an extension of their own brand.

You can now find Yellow Leaf products in several stores across Southeastern Wisconsin, and I’m regularly at local markets and events nearly every weekend, connecting with customers in person. I was also invited to be a vendor at Milwaukee’s Summerfest, which was an exciting milestone for 2026.Â

I care deeply about supporting others, whether that’s through mentoring, collaborating, or creating something meaningful for a customer’s space or event. My hope is that Yellow Leaf is not just something you buy for yourself or others, but something that adds a little comfort and joy to your everyday spaces.
